Botjoy is the creation of Portland, Oregon artist Gary Hirsch. Gary painted his first Bot on the back of a domino in 2010. To date, he has painted over 57,000 domino Bots and created over 15 global Botjoy murals .
With a Bot, you can go through your entire day visualizing you have a personal robot that protects, defends, and gives you outrageous compliments!

In 2013, Gary invited the world to “Steal the idea” and welcomed others to make their own Botjoy. This invitation turned the art project into an art movement, with Bots being made worldwide by students, artists, designers, families, and communities.
When you can let go of a creative idea and invite others in, everyday is full of surprise and delight!

We participated in a virtual Bot Making Party in 2021. Struck by the domino effect, we became inspired to to help spread the positive vibes of joy, courage, love, gratitude, and more. We're doing this by making Bots right here in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Keep your eyes and your heart open - you never know when a Bot will find you ;)
